Here are a couple of practical tips for choosing hiking boots.<\/p>\n

It's probably not unclear that overalls should be both functional and comfortable. Mono acts as a force mediator between your brain and your skis. It is also important that you wear them for several hours a day. Finding a good mono is not at all self-evident. During the last four years, my astalons, meant for crossing the swamp, have seen some kind of footwear, in my search for the right one. In this article I will not go into the size of the mono or similar issues. Now I only pay attention to the observations I make when choosing monos.<\/p>\n

When I made my choice, functionality came before comfort, but it would be nice to spend time with buckets on my feet. Yl\u00e4m\u00e4ki has been more the part of the day that has to be done before getting to the point. You have to go up if you want to go down the hill. Therefore, things like the movement of the stem or the filing of grams are not the biggest factors. The main points are in the high-performance mono, which could have been worn in a pin tie.<\/p>\n

I also haven't looked for a ready-made package from the boot manufacturer, but the shell and inner shoe separately. For years, I have already changed the inner shoe to fit my own foot, and I will certainly continue to do so in the future. By changing the inner shoe, I have removed the unnecessary space between the outer shell and got a better fit. The insole also affects the whole. I think the insole should be changed to a heat-moldable model. It has a surprisingly large effect on the computability of mono. With these two easy measures, you can get accuracy in the calculation.<\/p>\n

Here are things I think about when choosing monos:<\/p>\n

Mono floor feel<\/h4>\n

The first thing I test is the floor feel of the mono. If the mono leg doesn't have a good feel on the floor, I certainly won't get enough feel on skis and snow. Some overalls just feel more like cardboard boxes than others. This is why this first impression is important. As an example, I calculated in one year with two monos made in different calculation styles from the same manufacturer. Some were made for parking calculations and others for rando-oriented calculations. The monos were supposed to be made of the same mold, but clearly they came from different lines. The random ones didn't work at all, while the parking ones had an excellent tat. Apparently, the mold was so different that the good landing feel that the parking mono had was lost. When comparing these two monos, it was exactly this feeling of the floor that had disappeared from the random monos.<\/p>\n

Salomon's M Labs were chosen as monos. Very functional mono, although due to the injury in the right ankle I want the mono to fit better at the ankle.<\/p><\/div>\n

Stem angle<\/h4>\n

There are two types of randomons. There are those that are made with uphill in mind and then there are those that are meant more for downhill. In the uphill monos, the stem position is clearly more upright, and in the downhill monos, the stem position is more inclined forward. It is clear that with a very upright ski, you cannot press the ski into the turn as aggressively as with skis that are already more on top of the turn. What is important to me is a sufficient stem angle and I have been ready to compromise on the comfort of the bike in order to get a better landing position. Some manufacturers have this stem angle adjustable.<\/p>\n

Stem height<\/h4>\n

One manufacturer makes a low mono and another makes a higher one. Personally, I'm looking for a mono, whose stem rises high enough. The high stem gives you better support when the moment of trouble comes while skiing. These include, for example, the often occurring sudden change in snow conditions in the middle of a turn. The soft and low stem does not provide sufficient support.<\/p>\n

The next mono was Roxan R3. If these had a little more forward tilt, these would be the perfect ski buddies for me.<\/p><\/div>\n

Levity<\/h4>\n

In any case, now that it has come to the point where the best hills are at the end of a haik, I have tried to find a light but sturdy mono. When going uphill, lightness is a trump card, but as you can conclude, lightness affects the mono's sturdiness. At the moment, on the side of materials and structures, we have reached about 1400-1500 grams of randomo. The lighter you go, the less support it provides when descending. My monos have had a flex value of 130.<\/p>\n

No unnecessary adjustments<\/h4>\n

Mono should be as simple as possible. No extra adjustments or special buckle adjustments. Everything like this is disintegrating and makes a ski trip a nightmare. If something triggers when you are far from a familiar mono repair shop, then you are in trouble. Therefore, a simple mono, which lacks all unnecessary frills, is the best possible.<\/p>\n

In the spring, I switched to testing Atomic's mono. So far, the computability seems good. The wearability of mono is a pain.<\/p><\/div>\n

So I take these things into account when I choose monos. So this is all for the normal thing that needs to be taken into account when fitting monos.<\/p>\n
